Wheelchair Sports Camp - Where We All Live EP MP3 Download
From their inception, Wheelchair Sports Camp has turned heads without regret. From Kalyn Heffernan's high-pitched, technical rhymes, and strange beats to Abi McGaha Miller's wailing tenor saxophone and heartfelt vocals, WSC is a unique mixture of independent hip-hop, soul, and jazz that is simultaneously thought and dance provoking. Their debut EP, "Where We All Live" is yet another bold statement to this effect and the sports camp crew has evolved their sound crossing new boundaries and experimenting with new flavors.
"Without a single throwaway, Wheelchair has delivered its strongest, most articulate release yet." -The Westword
"Where We All Live" may be Wheelchair Sports Camp's first real quality recording, but the lo-fi sound and DIY attitude haven't left the Denver band one bit. Kalyn's beats lay the soundtrack for the group's quarter-life crisis with a funky, new approach. Abi's soulful voice shines brightly through the clouded world, and her saxophone skills add clarity to the confusion. The titular track contemplates on the trials of entering adulthood, especially for Kalyn who, due to a disorder called Osteogenesis Imperfecta, hasn't grown an inch above an average six year old. The upbeat track and Abi's catchy chorus will echo in the listener's mind days after a listen. Other tracks, however, show the band's unabashed desire to be accessible music while forcing political and philosophical contemplation from their audience.
